Better Call Saul: 10 Things You Only Notice Rewatching Season 1

4. Jesse Pinkman's Tag

The "JPi" tag is sprayed on the wall of Jesse Pinkman's house during Breaking Bad Season 4. Although Jesse wasn't above inviting some shady characters into his home, it's more likely that the J P and i stand for Jesse Pinkman.

The tag appears across the first season of Better Call Saul, first, and most obviously on the public telephone that Jimmy uses to call Nacho in the third episode. It's a call that will fundamentally change the course of Jimmy's life and his transition into Saul Goodman. Like Gus' shirt in the clothing store, it's a beautiful touch to put Jesse's tag on the phone box, hinting at his future. After all, it's Nacho who Saul tries to throw under the bus when Jesse and Walt kidnap him in Breaking Bad.

However, it could also have appear again later in the first season. A tumblr user posted that a small JPi tag may also appear in the first season's sixth episode, emblazoned on a maxi pad dispenser in the bathroom that Mike visits. It's a subtle nod by the production designers that hints at the Albuquerque of Breaking Bad as a living, breathing, sprawling city.
