Better Call Saul: 10 Things You Only Notice Rewatching Season 1
3. Jimmy Seeks Business At Hector's Nursing Home
Being scammed out of their savings is bad, but at least the residents of Sandpiper Crossing don't have a fatal bombing and double-murder to contend with. Or do they? One of the nursing homes Jimmy visits whilst scouting for new clients looks a lot like Casa Tranquila, where Hector Salamanca lives out the end of his days.
The retirement facility seems eerily familiar, down to the mosaic on the wall. It has been confirmed as the same location by the Better Call Saul production team. It's another one of those brilliant little touches that mark Better Call Saul out as the prequel par excellence, building a rich fictional universe. Whether it's the same location in-universe, rather than in production terms, remains to be seen, but the reappearance may hint at the ending of a long-running Better Call Saul plot.
If Hector Salamanca later is indeed residing there following Tuco's death, it's probably a signifier that Kim and Jimmy's plan to bring the Sandpiper case to an end succeeds. After all, it would be a foolish company that tried to scam an elderly, unhinged, cartel member like Hector Salamanca. Haven't they met his nephews?
