2. Beyonce Loves The Sisterhood
Bey talks about how much she values the advice, strength and experiences of women. If her countless female empowerment songs arent telling enough of how she feels about her fellow woman (Run The World (Girls) for example) this statement she made surely confirms it;
I love my husband, but it is nothing like a conversation with a woman that understands you. I grow so much from those conversations."
She spoke upon the struggles of womanhood;
"Its difficult being a woman. Its so much pressure, and we need that support sometimes, were all going through our problems, but we all have the same insecurities, abilities and need each other. It really pisses me off that women dont get the same opportunities as men do, or money for that matter. Because lets face it, money gives men the power to run the show. It gives men the power to define our values and to define whats sexy and whats feminine and thats bullshit. At the end of the day, its not about equal rights, its about how we think. We have to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves.
I must admit, it is so refreshing to hear a woman talk about women in such a positive manner. We are so accustomed to hearing about catty exchanges between divas (particularly in pop, R&B and rap - yes I'm talking about you Nicki Minaj and Mariah) and not that of support and unity. You go girl!
