The Big Bang Theory: 5 Storylines To Make It Good Again

3. Leonard Moves In With Penny

This storyline would focus more on Sheldon than Leonard, as I couldn't think of anything they could do with Leonard besides ship him off to some remote destination to try and shoehorn a cliffhanger into the season finale, only to have it amount to nothing three months later. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but it seems to me that Leonard and Penny would try living together for a little bit before they consider getting hitched - assuming being neighbours doesn't count. Sure, Penny and Leonard may clash over cohabitation, but I doubt you could squeeze more than one episode out of that before they miraculously find a compromise. Instead, the focus should be on how Sheldon reacts to Leonard moving out of their shared apartment and the absence of someone he has come to depend on both practically and emotionally. They could introduce a new character to be Sheldon's flatmate who may not take his authoritarian approach to sharing an apartment as passively as Leonard did. The gang will either accept them warmly or potentially dislike them for how easily he or she talked down Sheldon. Alternatively, keep him living alone and derive comedy from how he reacts to new situations without anyone's help. Would Sheldon have to revise his trademark knocking call? Would he starting hanging around Penny's apartment just to avoid being alone? Would Penny and Leonard treat him like a child who needs to fly the nest? There's probably less you could do with this one than the others, but it does tie into my next suggestion which will make up a larger story arc for Sheldon over the remainder of the series. But, if you're a Amy-Sheldon shipper, then brace yourself...
