The Big Bang Theory: 5 Storylines To Make It Good Again
4. Bernadette Gets Pregnant
I'd bet good money that we'll see this happen on the show before too long, since that's probably the next step in their relationship. Bernadette and Howard having kids was brought up in an earlier episode, revealing that the former isn't too keen on the idea whilst her husband is all for it. Though sitcom-pregnancy comes with a whole set of tropes that can be rolled out, the fact that this dynamic has already been established means the show can put a different spin on it. Since Howard is a man-child who has only recently stopped living with his own mother, the prospect of him being responsible for an infant can lead to episodes where he tries to prove he's father-material and fails miserably. Meanwhile, Bernadette could force herself to spend time with kids to try and get over her dislike of them and fail miserably. Howard's mother and Bernadette's father could both be used here, giving different perspectives on raising kids to each of their offspring and how the two collide, with sitcom shenanigans as the result. However, the show will suffer if a baby is added to the regular cast so this is probably something better introduced later on; ideally getting pregnant early in the final season. Since The Big Bang Theory has become more akin to Friends than anything else, the final episode could include Bernadette giving birth and the sense of change that comes with that being the impetus for the characters to move on in their own lives.
