Black Mirror: Ranking Every Episode From Worst To Best
11. Shut Up And Dance
Shut Up And Dance poses a terrifying question: what if a malicious group hacked your laptop's webcam and used what they filmed to blackmail you into doing their bidding? That's the situation young Kenny faces when he accidentally downloads some extra-nasty malware.
This power of this episode comes from its fantastic central idea that reminds us of a very chilling point. We practically share everything about ourselves with our personal computers these days and we could well be in a vulnerable position if they were ever used against us.
The final pair of twists are also superb, completing shifting our perception of the episode’s events. This one only doesn’t come any higher in the ranking because its format is very reminiscent of a previous episode (I won’t mention which one for fear of spoilers).
