Black Mirror: Ranking Every Episode From Worst To Best

5. Hated In The Nation

When internet hate figures start dying mysteriously, two detectives discover that there is a killer on the loose who chooses his victims by hashtag. But what is the connection to the nanodrones that have replaced the now-extinct bees?

The show’s second feature-length episode after White Christmas is a fantastic exploration of the hyperbolic, hateful things people spout on social media, all wrapped up in a tense crime drama flecked with moments from a Hitchcock horror/thriller. It's a potent blend that makes for a standout episode.

In particular, Black Mirror as a police procedural could have been a dud idea, but actually works a treat. Kelly Macdonald and Game of Thrones’ Faye Marsay rub together well as a hard-nosed detective and her gifted protégé. Any chance of a sci-fi crime drama spin-off for these two?
