Blood Of Zeus Review: 9 Ups And 2 Downs

10. Down: Rough Animation Moments

Animation is hard work, and animators are hardworking - such is the truth known by all who've worked in the industry. That said, when it comes to certain series, it's clear how deadlines don't always agree with how much animators are able to do, and it shows in shortcuts, style decisions, and cheats. They usually work to the untrained eye, but sometimes... they really don't.

In the case of this series, there are some rough patches of animation in which frames are too few and slower actions become a bit too wonky. There's also a number of scenes in which fading keys together is used for dramatic effect, which works about 90% of the time, but happens just often enough to be noticed.

The wonkiest of these decisions comes in the form of a repeating, climactic action, framed as dramatic but coming off as a bit silly.

All that said, these moments don't necessarily detract from the overall quality of the animation work that Powerhouse is well known for. And if they're going for "anime style", there's nothing more anime than drawing out a single frame to pad a thirty-minute runtime while the animators work on perfecting the action scenes.
