Fun fact: The Hauntening is currently the highest rated Bob's Burgers episode on IMDB, and for good reason. Although the script offers plenty of laughs, it's a shift in genre as it takes on a more horrifying story, perfect for Halloween.

Louise claims to never be frightened by anything. Bob and Linda are determined to give her a scare by staging their very own haunted house. Unsuccessful, the family decide to go home but some very strange things start occuring after discovering a flat tire on their car. After taking refuge in the house, the family find themselves cornered into the projected roof. Just as three hooded figures approach, the yard sets on a fire and a man approaches the bathroom window, Louise screams in terror. Gene snaps a photo of her and it is revealed the whole thing was just a set up.

The decision to not show a scene where Bob and Linda plan the prank is a smart one because the audience are just as unaware of the trick as Louise is, therefore amplifying the suspense and chills of the story.
