Linda is often the sunshine on a rainy day – finding a positive in every situation she’s in and usually proclaiming “Oh, I love it!” to just about everything. At times, it seems she is a little too upbeat about life, which is why it was so refreshing to see a deeper side of her character in Eat, Spray, Linda.

In this episode, Linda has the despairing feeling of growing older on her 44th birthday. It starts off particularly dull as she is forced to stay out of the family’s way as they prepare a surprise spa day. But things take a turn for the worst when she takes a trip to a far-off grocery store and locks herself out of her own car, with no money or phone.

As the family search for her, she seems to be having the most stressful birthday ever - from ripping her pants and getting sprayed twice by a skunk to forming a rivalry with a lady at the store and having to break into her own apartment. But surprisingly, it ends with Linda regaining her confidence back and even requesting that Bob ditch her in the middle of nowhere for every birthday. Classic Linda!
