For much of season four, Diane was forced to put her own happiness even further down her priorities list than ever before. She and Mr. Peanutbutter were going through intense couples counselling, and when her husband decided to run for governor, she had no choice but to support him.

This turned her life upside down, but it wasn’t until Mr. Peanutbutter supported fracking in California that things got out of hand. Diane had told him outright how awful fracking was, and that she would be incredibly upset if he came out in support of it, but he did it anyway. He even went one step further, and invited fracking in their own back yard.

After some time sitting back and taking this, with a little nudge from Stefani at Girl Croosh, Diane took action. She turned in a scathing report condemning any and all pro-fracking politicians, claiming they had no idea what it actually was, and essentially started a war with her own husband.

This was so refreshing to finally see her stand up for herself, particularly after the crap Mr. Peanutbutter gave her about going after Hank Hippopopalous some years before (more on that shortly). Not only did she make a stand and make her point, the energy and emotion this sparked between her and her husband led to the best their sex life had ever been.
