BoJack Horseman: 10 Worst Things Mr Peanutbutter Has Ever Done
7. Refusing To Acknowledge Captain Peanutbutter’s Illness
This is one where even the harshest of Mr Peanutbutter critics might offer him a little leeway. Though this isn’t the ideal reaction, it is an understandable one given how close he is to Captain Peanutbutter. Still, when put together with the rest of his behaviour, it does change the complexion somewhat.
If it was, say, Todd in this situation, his denial would be just him struggling to cope with the reality. The way Mr Peanutbutter refuses to come to terms with the fact his brother may be because he’s so close to him, Mr PB refuses to face up to the fact his brother won’t be around forever. Unhealthy, perhaps, but hardly monstrous.
The problem lies when Mr Peanutbutter takes Diane out to see Captain. Because Mr PB refuses to acknowledge the situation, he’s not really there for Captain in the way he should be. It’s understandable, but it’s still selfish.
He also leaves Diane stranded, having to deal with heavy conversations with a man she barely knows. This isn’t the kind of situation Diane would thrive in during the best of times. During their strained marriage though, Mr PB is setting her up for a fall.
