BoJack Horseman: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
Which chapter of BoJack's tragic tale is the best of them all?
Netflix has produced some truly brilliant shows over the years, but none as compelling and original as Raphael Bob-Waksberg's masterful BoJack Horseman.
The adult animated tragicomedy first aired in 2014, and for six seasons detailed the twisted, tragic and emotional exploits of BoJack Horseman, a humanoid horse who was once a major TV star.
With the likes of lovable slacker Todd Chavez and up-beat celebrity Mr Peanutbutter brining a solid amount of hilarity to the show, BoJack was at its finest when using its maturity and heart to tackle tough themes such as love, addiction, depression, grief and identity. With these themes, all expertly handled, the show quickly elevated itself above other shows in the genre and struck a cord with fans over its 70+ episode run.
With few hiccups along the way, BoJack Horseman defined a genre and in the process created some of modern TV's most iconic characters.
But which of the series expertly crafted seasons is the best of the best? From the humble beginnings to the daring experiments that characterised the mid-point of the show, here all six seasons of BoJack Horseman ranked worst to best.
6. Season One
Though the show's first season is far from being in any way bad, it does takes a few episodes to really get into the swing of things. BoJack's mental state isn't properly tackled until the final few episodes, with everything leading up to the finale just painting him as a bit of a jerk, rather than the complex figure he would become later on.
On top of that, there is a lot of filler. "BoJack Hates the Troops" and "Zoes and Zeldas" don't really do anything other than portray the show as yet another adult TV series with a collection of irreverent characters.
By the seventh episode, though, things really pick up, with the true tone of the show beginning to poke its head from behind the crass humour and so-so character development. The last act of the season is pure BoJack brilliance, digging into the psyche of the main characters with humour, wit and maturity. It just took a while to get going, which lets it down in the rankings.
