BoJack Horseman Season 4 Review: 5 Ups & 1 Down
Down...
1. Lack Of Character Development
The show features some of the funniest, best-written characters right now, yet the problematic thing about them is that they're unable to develop past a certain stage. It's expected for Princess Carolyn to remain a workaholic, Diane to still be annoying, and BoJack to remain grumpy and cruel, at least at times. Whatever new challenges the characters encounter, they remain in the same place once they get through them.
While it's interesting to see what Todd will get himself into this time or over what Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter will argue next, it seems that it would be beneficial for the show to actually make the characters succeed once in a while. It's as if their constant failures stop them from blossoming. In a way, the show has become predictable. Not in the sense of what's going to happen at the next moment, but what will be the final result, once the season is over.
