The upcoming Chucky series, which will debut on Syfy and USA in 2021, will feature the return of Brad Dourif in his iconic role as the voice of the killer doll, according to Deadline. The Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor has portrayed Chucky since the 1988 film Child's Play and reprised his role for every iteration since, excluding last year's standalone reboot film.

The series, which is the brainchild of Child's Play franchise creator Don Mancini, was first announced in 2018 as a continuation of the ongoing film series. Mancini was announced as creator and showrunner, and longtime series producer David Kirshner will reprise that role for the series. Filming of the pilot, directed by Mancini wrapped in November of last year.

According to Deadline, the series plot is as follows;

A vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale and throws an idyllic American town into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Last week, Mancini revealed the very first teaser for the series via Twitter.
