Breaking Bad: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One
5. Ed Galbraith
The late, great Robert Forster didn’t get a lot of screen time in Breaking Bad, but few actors could make so much out of so little. With his gravitas and unerring dignity, as well as a welcome smattering of wry humour, he turned Ed Galbraith into a fascinating enigma, the guy you hope you’ll never have to turn to, but thank God that you can.
Mild mannered vacuum cleaner salesman by day, Ed’s main hustle is as a disappearer. Throughout the series and its spin-offs, Walt, Saul and Jesse all feel the need to employ his services, with varying success.
His finest episode is “Granite State”, the show's penultimate, in which with a few short scenes he gives you the measure of his character. He’s willing to banter with Walt in the deposed drug lord’s New Hampshire exile - but for a cost. He’s Walt’s one and only link to civilisation, and as such charges the poor sap exorbitant sums for a quick hand of cards.
He’s another facet of the show’s wide world of crime, not the starriest of turns but a fascinating cog in the wheel - that’s Robert Forster all over.
