Breaking Bad: 10 Worst Things Jesse Pinkman Has Ever Done
4. Remaining With Gus
Jesse’s temper is triggered most violently when he sees harm come to children. The red mist descends at the end of season three when Gus callously dispatches a young pusher he no longer requires. Chaos and bloodshed ensues, and Walt and Jesse both come awfully close to losing their lives before things calm down.
In due course, Gus concludes that his life would be easier were he to have Jesse, now almost Walt’s peer meth production-wise, running the operation, and so begins to groom the former Captain Cook as head chemist.
Jesse finds himself on the hook, and crawls back into bed with a man he knows to sanction child murder, along with any number of heinous acts. It’s fair to say he’s groomed and manipulated, but all the same, he’s aligning himself with the devil, crawling in deeper with every passing episode. He voyages with the Fring crew to Mexico, and even helps to save Gus’ life.
Arguably he had no choice - Gus isn’t a man you say no to - but all the same, Jesse’s led down a dark path here.
