It is fitting that we discover Vince Gilligan only intended to keep Jesse around for one season as his character just doesn't seem to fit in with a world beyond the RV and street corner meth deals. Little did we realise how the scene in which Walt cleans up the mess caused by Jesse dissolving a body using hydrochloric acid in a bathtub would become a blueprint for Jesse's relationships throughout the show. Whether it was Walt confronting Tuco after he beat up Jesse, Jane blackmailing Walt to get Jesse's share of a drug deal, Mike cleaning up the house after after Jane's death as Jesse sits motionless on the floor, Walt distracting Hank from checking the RV after Jesse had led him straight to them, there are so many examples of Jesse being bailed out of his own naivety and incompetence by others. We all have that one person in our life that find's it difficult to make a decision. If you can't decide who that person is that means its you. How many times did we hear Jesse scream, 'What do we do Mr White?' with a look of sheer panic etched across his face. When do we ever see Jesse triumphant, unless it is alongside somebody else? Any solo flight usually ended with an almighty crash or the immediate transfer of steering to Walt. Say what you will about Walt, but one of his great strengths was to know what to do in a crisis situation. Despite willingly stepping into a world of crime, Jesse simply does not posses the cunning, intelligence or ruthlessness to survive but then again, many look at his journey to be one of morality.
