Breaking Bad: 5 Ways The Show Could End

5. Uncle Jack And The Neo-Nazis kill Walt

Episode 8 Walt Uncle Perhaps not the most satisfying way to end Walt's career, but there would be a certain amount of poignancy. Walt has arrogantly believed that no adversary could stop him, no matter how dangerous. He's always been a fish out of water in the meth business, building a name and reputation for himself, but never truly fitting in. He wasn't born into the world like Hector Salamanca, or steadily built his way up from a young age like Gus Fring. Rather, he entered the world practically on a whim, and he's made his climb by the skin of his teeth. How many times was he nearly killed along the way? He almost got a bullet from Tuco, he nearly wound up dead at the hands of Mike and Gus, and any number of his thugs. But he made it out alive each time on account of his brains and a sizable portion of luck. But Walt has never once considered how lucky he is. Instead, with every survival, with every lucky break, it's been another notch on his self-assumed impenetrable shield. He became arrogant enough to believe that no man can touch him. In his mind he's invulnerable to dangerous drug lords, and he's impervious to anyone who might have it out for him. In a way, Walt's head has always been in the clouds. That cloud was turned to blood just last week, when Jack, despite Walt's insistence, put a bullet in Hank's head. This rocked Walt to his core, not just because his brother-in-law died, but because his bubble burst. Suddenly he wasn't the untouchable Heisenberg. He was reminded that there are people in the world who wont listen to him, and he was forced to come to grips with the fact that he'd gotten into bed with some pretty ruthless scum; a group of sadistic neo-Nazis who don't really care who Walt is. And now he's been ripped-off and ditched by the sort of people he once looked at with a condescending eye. But will that be enough to finally teach Walt his lesson? I'd hedge my bets against it. Walt's pride has been damaged but not destroyed. He's going to go after his money. He's going to go hunt down Uncle Jack and his gang. That's what that trunk full of guns is about. He's likely arming himself to take down the entire gang. It's a foolish, dead man's venture, but Walt, with his great ego and his family now lost to him, probably feels he has nothing to lose. Walt's always convinced himself he was better than the Gus Frings and Jack Welkers of the world. He's certain he's doing what he's doing for the right reasons, above and beyond any petty skirmishes with criminals. Perhaps the greatest punishment for Walt would be for him to die knowing that nobody will remember him. How fitting would it be if he dies in a firefight with a gang of scum? He can convince himself he's greater than them up until the very moment a neo-Nazi puts a bullet in his skull. All of Walt's arrogance would come crashing down around him in one split second of humbling death. A moment of epiphany when he realizes he's just another casualty of drug warfare, a faceless criminal who will be remembered not as Heisenberg the great and powerful, but as Walter White the dead drug dealer. Maybe he'll be buried out in a ditch too. A death at the hands of Uncle Jack's gang would be the perfect answer to Walt's ego. A death that rubs in his face just how average a criminal he became. Admittedly that sort of death wont be a very personal one, and may leave some fans cold. Perhaps instead Gilligan will choose a fan approved route...

I'm an all-around film enthusiast - always have been, always will be. When I'm not writing about movies I'm sitting in a dark room watching one on my laptop. You might also find me at the local movie theater watching Christopher Nolan's new movie for the 80th time. I'm the guy in the back wearing the "It kept spinning" t-shirt. I also just started a blog called "The Dream Factory," in which I post video reviews of the latest TV shows and movies. So hopefully if you like the way I write, you'll love the way I talk.
