Breaking Bad: How Walter White Broke Bad In 10 Steps

7. The Double Murder of the Dealers

The actual act of killing the dealers in the penultimate episode of season 3 isn€™t that shocking. Walt has killed before and here he is only killing to protect Jesse. The shocking thing here is Walt€™s lack of hesitation and remorse. When Walt has been show committing a murder up until this point there has always been a degree of hesitation and then a large amount of reaction. In this episode Walt kills one of the dealers with his car and then finishes the other one off with a bullet to the head before sternly telling Jesse to run. It is at this point that Walt has started to truly become the Heisenberg persona that he created in the first season. Indeed, it is at this point that I would argue that Walt has become a drug dealer pretending to be a quiet, mild mannered man in comparison with the opposite pretense in the pilot episode.
