Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 10 Things That Must Happen Before It Ends
7. Nikolaj Boyle Follows In His Father Footsteps
One of the most endearing aspects of the show is Charles Boyle's relationship with his son. Seeing the struggle and turmoil that went into his parenthood was often a highlight for him, and the way that his son helped him evolve completely changed him, without ruining his character.
It's safe to say that Nikolaj will have to play a significant role in season eight, as a lot of Boyle's narrative revolves around their relationship. Therefore it's essential to give him something important to do.
While there are plenty of avenues for the character to go down, there's one path that would be perfect, and the show has already sprinkled some foreshadowing for it.
The perfect ending for Nikolaj would be a reveal that he wants to become just like his daddy, and join the police force. The young Boyle's superhero-like admiration of his father is well-documented, especially in the episode Captain Latvia, which even ends with him adoring a figurine of a cop because it's just like his dad.
Of course, this reveal would probably cause some drama as Boyle knows the dangers of becoming a detective. Still, it could make for an incredibly emotional story, and an excellent ending for Charles, Genevieve and their son.
