Faith brought a whole new kind of crazy into Buffy's world, but perhaps none more than the ancient vampire Kakistos (Jeremy Roberts), who follows her into town in season three's third episode, Faith, Hope & Trick.

With cloven hands and feet, and a name that literally translates from Greek as 'the worst', Kakistos gives The Master a run for age-old vampire uglies. Hell-bent on hunting down Faith after he killed her watcher and she scarred (and possibly blinded) him in his right eye, Kakistos chases the junior slayer to Sunnydale, with everyone's favourite sharp-suited, big-picture, modern vampire in tow: Mr Trick.

Kakistos is even so old that his face is permanently fixed in vampiric form. But it's not all hideous doom and gloom - his skin and body are tough enough to shrug off a normal stake, and he possesses a sixth supernatural sense (not unlike the Judge or Master) for detecting the light and the dark in others.

Last seen dusting off the end of a large piece of timber.

"I guess you need a bigger stake, Slayer.”
