Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Best Spike Episodes
1. Fool For Love (Season 5, Episode 7)
One of the very best episodes of the show, Fool For Love finally gave Spike the chance to share his sordid, tragic and nefarious tale.
After nearly being killed by a lone vampire, Buffy seeks infamous Slayer-killer Spike out so he can explain how he gained his reputation as one of history's most notorious bloodsuckers.
Detailing his vampiric life from the moment he was sired by Drusilla to the times he managed to face off with a Slayer and come out on top, Spike lays it all on the table - how much he enjoyed being evil, how being a part of Angelus' troupe made him feel unstoppable, and how he has changed over the years.
Fool For Love also gives a glimpse into his life pre-vampire, where he is shown to be a romantic poet heartbroken by the woman he loved. In the episode's final scene, he consoles Buffy in a moment of grief.
Equal parts funny, dark and tragic, Fool For Love is Spike's best episode, reminding audiences that he was not always a monster, and that although he's done awful things, there's still a chance he can be that good man again.
