Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Best Spike Episodes

2. Lovers Walk (Season 3, Episode 8)

After leaving Sunnydale at the end of season two with Drusilla, Spike returns to the fold in this season three gem, heartbroken, single and hilariously pathetic.

Kidnapping Willow in hopes that she can cast a love spell on Dru, Spike spends the episode having a heart to heart with Joyce Summers and walking the streets with Buffy and Angel, constantly bumping into trouble.

Spike completely steals Lovers Walk, moving seamlessly between delusion, heartbreak, out-right comedy and philosophical ramblings. In the episode's final act, he gives a speech about love which Joss Whedon says is the reason he decided to bring James Marsters back as a main character.

Lovers Walk is equal parts sad and moving, funny and strange, and that's all down to the way in which Spike balances his almost human emotions with his still evil intentions.

And seriously - that final speech is just amazing, even after all this time.
