Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Great Moments In Mediocre Episodes

Season 4 struggles to get off the ground to begin with. The first two episodes are a bit disappointing, particularly after the epic finale of Season 3. Thankfully, the second episode does contain some great splashes of humour here and there.

Buffy’s roommate Kathy proves to be an insufferable nuisance. She’s obsessed with rules and has a passive-aggressive personality that drives Buffy mad. As time goes on, their feelings of mutual hatred intensify, and Buffy decides to put her foot down… by drinking Kathy’s milk.

It’s an over-the-top moment, but it works within the context of the episode. Buffy’s moral compass – which is normally impenetrable – snaps in a matter of seconds. The comical score makes Buffy’s decision even more hilarious, and Kathy’s look of bewilderment is a great touch, too.

Whilst there are plenty of other funny moments in this episode – the ketchup splatter in the canteen is also a standout – the milk carton scene is the best of the lot.
