6. The Love Spell
In season one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it is well established that Xander Harris hates Cordelia Chase with a passion. He and Willow are even proud members of the We Hate Cordelia club.
However, after connecting over the course of a few demon-related adventures, Xander and Cordelia form a relationship in season two. But, fearing for her social status, Cordelia ends things between them in the episode Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered. Angry, Xander goes to local witch Amy Madison for a love spell, not to win Cordy back, but to give himself the satisfaction of rejecting her.
Predictably, the spell goes wrong, affecting every woman in Sunnydale except Cordelia. Things quickly spiral out of control, with Buffy turned into a rat, Willow heartbroken at Xander's rejection, and the women of Sunnydale swept into a violent frenzy, all desperate to have Xander for their own.
Dealing with the situation bonds Xander and Cordy once more, and she ultimately chooses him over her friends.. Nevermind the fact that people got hurt, and Willow is still upset. Not for the first time, or the last, Xander is rewarded for doing the wrong thing.
