17. Mastering The Master
As I have said, season one isn't as polished as subsequent runs, but its finale Prophecy Girl does nail one important part of Buffy's story: no matter how dark it gets, Buffy will always keep fighting and come out on top.
After dying (if only for a few moments) at the Master's hand, Buffy comes back stronger and finally defeats the big bad - complete with a march set to her own theme tune.
In many ways, this moment brings to a close Buffy's season-long reluctance to assume the responsibility of her destiny. From this point on, Buffy truly is the Slayer.
