Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 8 Most Outrageous Fan Theories You Won't Believe

In season 4 of Buffy, the gang perform an enjoining spell that causes them all to have dreams showing their personal fears and failures. One of the figures that appears is the Cheese Man, who carries around slices of cheese with him and frequently talks about them. Yeah, it was a weird season. Anyway, while he seemed like just a random person (maybe it was just a cheese dream?), there is a theory that there was way more to him than that. One person has taken it upon themselves to write a fairly in-depth analysis of how the Cheese Man is actually a metaphor, because the Internet. There's a fair bit to it, but the broadstrokes are taken from a children's nursery rhyme, which states that 'the cheese stands alone' and that cheese is a metaphor for Buffy, who is alone in this world because of her power and responsibility, and finds a number of other references to cheese throughout the theory, from Xander discussing cheese strings to Angel liking cheese steaks. This one probably isn't true, because it just seems a little too cheesy (other cheese puns are available and encouraged).
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
