Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Every Major Relationship Ranked Worst To Best

7. Giles & Jenny

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Riley
Mutant Enemy

Without question one of the most tragic love stories in Buffy, Giles and Jenny first met in the show's debut season, and pursued a relationship in the second amidst the growing threats of Spike, Drusilla and Angelus.

They seemed to a match made in heaven, both teachers with a love for history and mythology and a knack for working together to help Buffy and the gang take down otherworldly threats. This all fell apart when it was revealed Jenny was a gypsy sent to spy on Angel and ensure his curse remained intact.

Briefly estranged with little trust between them, Giles and Jenny eventually reconciled, but before they could take things any further, Angelus snapped her neck and left her in Giles' bed for the smitten librarian to find.

Jenny's death was a cruel but important one, highlighting how dangerous Angelus could be, but it still hurts to no end that the couple never got to live happily ever after.
