Feeling trapped by her responsibilities, Buffy rebels and heads to a frat party with Cordelia, which goes about as well as expected. Instead of having a nice night out, the two are offered up as human sacrifices to a demon snake.

Struggling to overcome its heavy-handed "frats are bad" message, Reptile Boy allows Buffy and Giles in particular to strengthen their relationship, and gives Cordy more time to shine after several episodes of being heavily sidelined.

These virtues are all well and good, until the central conflict comes into play. Stilted by terrible supporting performances and a final stand that's uncharacteristically anticlimactic, the episode does some decent character work, but that's about all that can be said of it.
