Spike and Drusilla strolled onto our television screens way back in 1997. Since then, they’ve become a legendary vampire duo, and it’s easy to see why.
The second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a big leap forward. The writing was tighter, the performances were sharper, and the monster-of-the-week trope was balanced with a riveting season arc.
With the help of Angelus, Spike and Drusilla terrorised Sunnydale and caused havoc for Buffy and the rest of the Scooby Gang. But despite their villainous ways, they were also rather likeable.
Drusilla’s mad mentality led to plenty of humorous moments and a large array of quotable lines. And as for Spike, many Buffy fans consider him to be the best character in the entire show due to his charming persona and his outstanding redemption arc.
Simply put, these two villains are an iconic part of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even when they’re attempting to kill the characters we love, we can’t help but admire their superb dialogue and the stellar performances of James Marsters and Juliet Landau.
