Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Ranking Every Major Death Worst To Best

One of the show's most heart-wrenching moments comes in the final moments of the second season, when Buffy faces off with Angelus and finally builds up the courage to kill him. As she gets the upper-hand, however, Willow manages to return the vampire's soul, making him return to the more loving guise of Buffy's boyfriend.

With the Angel having already awoken Acathla - a demon brought about to end the world - Buffy knows she has to kill Angel. She can't risk him losing his soul again, and she knew she had to stop Acathla. So, with one final goodbye, she stabbed Angel and watched him get swallowed up by the demon.

It's an emotional scene, albeit one that would soon be reversed, but in that moment Buffy lays it all on the table and once more does what she knows is right.
