Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Ranking Every Major Death Worst To Best

Jenny Calendar was the first major character of the show to be killed off, having been a recurring presence throughout the first two seasons and forming a brief romance with Giles. A descendant of the gypsies that cursed Angelus with a soul, she was sent to Sunnydale to keep an eye on the vampire - and, when found out spent her last days trying to find a way to get Angel his soul again.

Unfortunately, just as she figured out how to save the day, Angelus came looking for her and cornered her at the school. After a heart-pounding chase, the vampire managed to catch Jenny and snapped her neck. Not only that, though, but he left her body in Giles' bed to find when he went home.

Jenny's death was expertly handled, and an absolute gut-punch that allowed fans to see just how evil Angelus could be.

On a plus note, Joss Whedon had originally wanted to kill Oz, but changed his mind when he saw how popular he was. So, it could have been worse...
