Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Worst Episode From Every Season
4. Season Four: Where The Wild Things Are
Although the general consensus is that Beer Bad is the worst episode of season four - and perhaps even the show - that's actually far from the truth. Beer Bad isn't good, sure, but its flaws have been wildly exaggerated to such an extent that it's become a critical punching bag.
No, the worst episode of Buffy's fourth year is actually the dreadful and borderline offensive Where the Wild Things Are, which finds the gang struggling with their sex lives before attending a frat party hosted at a former orphanage. There, everyone's hormones are energised, and Buffy and Riley are compelled to have sex indefinitely.
This is all bad enough, but it gets even worse when Giles finds out the house is haunted by the ghosts of abused children who are releasing their sexual energy on the partygoers. It's an ugly and offensive explanation with no justification, and the fact that the drama is played for laughs is hard to shake.
On the plus side, the episode does introduce us to Giles singing Behind Blue Eyes, so I guess it's not all bad...
