Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Worst Episode From Every Season
2. Season Six: As You Were
Although it would be fair to say season six is a bit of a mess, it's actually one of the most affecting instalments of the show, and its themes of depression, addiction, mourning and power definitely need to be re-evaluated. That being said, it probably could have done without As You Were.
Following Buffy as she teams up with her ex Riley and his wife to destroy a demon, the episode is instantly dampened by the lacklustre demon threat and Riley's return, which is both jarring and unneeded given how everyone - even Buffy - has moved on from him.
Though Riley gets a great speech to save at least a slither of his image, As You Were still ends up watching like a cheap stab at emotional nostalgia. Though Buffy is at her lowest, it's irritating that the writers think Riley of all people is needed to set her on the right path, given how terrible he was for her in the past. Just...no.
