Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Worst Episode From Every Season

1. Season Seven: First Date

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Go Fish
Mutant Enemy

So, the apocalypse is looming, people are dropping like flies, and no one knows who they can trust. Time, apparently, for date night. At least that's what this dud says, as Buffy goes out with Principal Wood, Xander dates a woman who (shock) turns out to be a demon, and Spike embraces no longer having a chip in his head.

First Date is one in a long line of season seven episodes that really shouldn't exist, ruining the tense, doomy tone of the impending apocalypse with an instalment that's both unconvincingly funny and seemingly unfazed by the terror surrounding its characters.

Add to this ill-placed developments and tone issues the abysmal performance of guest star Ashanti and a subplot centred around Willow and Andrew trying to spy on the First Evil, and what you have with First Date is an episode completely unaware what it wants to be, and painfully forgettable at the same time.
