Casting Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot

Who's up for Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets The Umbrella Academy?

In mid-2018, it was announced by 20th Century Fox that the cultural phenomenon Buffy the Vampire Slayer was getting a modern-day reboot. Many fans clambered to support the creative decision, many more made it clear just how much they hated the idea.

Which is fair. Shows with fandoms as large as Buffy's don't want to see their favourite show changed, but in a world where studios live for a reboot, it really feels that this particular decision was inevitable.

A little while after the initial announcement, it came to light that the new project wouldn't be a reboot of the old series at all, but a totally different show focusing on a new group of characters to be set after the events of the original Buffy - when Willow Rosenberg gave the power of the Slayer to every Potential on the planet.

But it begs the question, though: If the powers that be were to reboot the series, who could possibly fill the shoes of such iconic characters?

It's a tall order, and not the kind of thing that sits right with fans of the O.G cult classic, but the following list will attempt to recast the original main characters for a more modern audience.

From the Scooby Gang to the lovable vampires, let's dig in.

13. Gage Golightly - Faith Lehane

One of the lesser known names on the list, Gage Golightly hasn't had a massive career, but what little work she has had has show audiences a brilliant actress begging for her one big role.

That role could just be Faith Lehane, the rogue Slayer who was originally played by Eliza Dushku.

To play Faith, we need an actress who can be tough and charismatic, cruel and dangerous - but also sensitive and a good person deep, deep down. Aside from looking the part and sitting in the right age range, Golightly's performance as messed-up werewolf Erica Reyes on the show Teen Wolf is a perfect example of what she could bring to the role of Faith.

As Erica, Golightly was violent, impulsive, cruel but a genuinely good person overcome with power for the first time in her life.

Sound familiar? It's meant to be.
