Castlevania Season 2 Review: 7 Ups And 2 Downs
3. Up: The Trio
The relationship between Alucard, Sypha and Trevor builds up wonderfully this season, with the animosity between Trevor and Alucard bringing them to laughter instead of fabricating false drama, and Sypha's empathy sidestepping the relationship tropes often used by lazier writers.
The way Trevor and Alucard rib each other, with teeth but no more real malice, and even affection, encourages future encounters of a friendlier kind.
Sypha seems to be the most put together, understanding her own feelings and the feelings of her two dear friends and being more or less what keeps the team together, with both her powerful magic allowing them to succeed and her emotional intelligence cutting down any stupidity or emotional constipation early on.
Each member of the team shows off even more prowess in this season, fighting beautifully together as a team and individually, with Trevor flexing his skill with both the Morningstar whip and a stick he picked up from the enemy, Sypha showing off insane amounts of will and magical power, and Alucard using his other abilities, including his wolf transformation, during battle.
The trio has only grown more likeable, and makes audiences vie for more of their adventures together in later seasons.
