Community: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One

1. Elroy Patashnik

Now there's a man who knows how to take the top spot on a Whatculture list!

Elroy, played by Keith David, brings the actor's signature charm to Community. He is the last replacement character we meet, first appearing in the second episode of Season 6. He reluctantly enrols in Greendale after the Dean buys an old VR headset he made that is far too extravagant for a school with as many financial issues as Greendale. Slowly, he bonds with each character one by one, with Jeff finally winning him over at the season's halfway point.

Elroy steals plenty of scenes throughout the season, such as his line, "I'm a big fan of the performing arts, but I'll go to Chang's play anyway", and his teased fake spinoff with Jeff titled Hard Drive and Wingman. That said, his defining moment is obvious. It's impossible to talk about the character without mentioning his role in the penultimate episode of the series, Wedding Videography.

In that episode, Elroy reveals that he is addicted to encouraging white people. He is shown complimenting various white people at events such as weddings for doing almost nothing, all while breaking it down for the audience. The gag comes back at the end of the episode when it is revealed that Garrett's wife is actually his cousin. Elroy breaks the tension in the room by shouting "Now there's a man who knows how to marry his cousin!"

It's a shame Elroy wasn't around from the beginning. It would have been hilarious to see him interact with the likes of Pierce, Troy, Shirley, Hickey, and Duncan. Elroy elevates just about every scene he is, so it feels unfair to meet him so late in the series' run.
