Community: 10 Reasons Why Season 5 Is MASSIVELY Underrated

8. The Show's Rebirth Made Sense

The fourth season of Community ended on a note that could have concluded the series for good. Jeff finally graduated Greendale and the rest of the cast appeared to be moving on with their lives. Bringing everyone back to Greendale to study more felt not only unnecessary, but seemed like a plot knot that might have been difficult to untangle.

The reason for pulling the characters back to the Study Room wasn't out of some misguided reunion; the realistic consequence that Greendale might have screwed their lives forever makes sense, and watching them all (minus Pierce) return to Greendale fitted the show's overall story perfectly.

Of course, we're used to the group starting another season deciding on a new year-long class to take together. But knowing that wasn't the case this time gave the show a modest sense of evolution.

The characters had gotten older and matured, and having the gang reunite to complete the classes they abandoned early gives us some uplifting catharsis. Jeff is our main character of the show, but so are Shirley, Annie, Britta, Troy and Abed. And it was fitting to see them make the active choice to move forward with their lives too.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
