Community: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best

There are many things that Community is known for, such as touching emotional scenes, outlandish humour and goofy set-ups. But, one of the most critical aspects of the show was its meta humour. Abed wasn't just the character who played with this the most; he was the anchor that pulled the show past the fourth-wall.

Abed was constantly cracking some of the most entertaining jokes, as his way of seeing the world was so different from others, and he could almost tell he was in a sitcom. This gave the series a tongue-in-cheek self-awareness that helped it become popular, and it had Abed to thank for that.

Besides what he did for the show, Abed was such a likeable character, as his eccentricities were always a cause for entertainment, and he had some incredibly emotional moments. Plus, he always played a significant role in the development of narratives.

Finally, TV can often have trouble representing characters on the autistic spectrum, but Abed is one of the best. The show never sought to diagnose him or paint him like someone who was outside of the norm. Instead, it took the time to show how he operated on a different wavelength from others but could still be healthy, functioning and downright hilarious without leaning into stereotype.
