Community: The 10 Most Hated Episodes
3. Advanced Introduction To Finality (Season 4, Episode 13)
Season four started with one whimper and it ended with another. This episode stinks of desperation, clearly exposing that the writing team for this season were completely out of ideas after just thirteen episodes. The graduation episode of Community was one that fans had been anticipating for years. Harmon himself has said that, were he still in charge, that this episode would have served as the entire show’s grand finale.
And instead of that, we get the unnecessary return of the evil study group from the darkest timeline, a one-off fan favourite joke from the previous season. There was absolutely no reason for the poignant themes of moving on from community college to be dwarfed by a headache inducing paintball showdown between the two groups.
Oh yes. The episode also brings back paintball too, because the formula for writing appears to have been just shoving everything that fans liked into a blender and serving up whatever sludge comes out on the other side.
Thank god that Dan Harmon was reinstated so that Community fans, and television audiences in general, didn’t have to sit through something this messy ever again.
