4. Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy)
Kevin Kennedy's Curly Watts was perhaps one of the soap's more beloved of characters during his time on screen between 1983 and 2003. So popular was the character that his on-screen wedding to Raquel Wolstenhulme once pulled in an astonishing 22 million viewers. Curly married twice in Coronation Street, later wedding policewoman Emma Taylor, and was known for his job as assistant manager at supermarket Bettabuy. His better known scenes saw wife Emma give birth to his first child, Ben, delivered by Norris Cole, (who else) and his policewoman wife commit perjury to cover for a colleague, causing frictions between the pair. Kennedy left Weatherfield after a two-decade stint on the soap in 2003 and has
recently been tipped with a comeback.
