Crisis On Infinite Earths: Every Character Ranked Worst To Best
5. Kingdom Come Superman
It's pretty ironic that recent rumours suggest Warner Bros. is having a tough time with Superman on the big screen as they're not sure how to make him relevant in the modern age, because The CW's Arrowverse only went and nailed the character... twice. And while Hoechlin's traditional portrayal could have done with more screen time, it was the other major iteration to appear that really stole the show.
Yep, Legends of Tomorrow's own Brandon Routh was finally given the chance he deserved to reprise his most famous role when he appeared as Earth-96's Man of Steel, and he quickly reminded us why he was one of the greatest to ever wear that hopeful symbol.
He didn't appear all that often, but he did have something of a significant role in the second and third installments of Crisis, giving us some of the crossover's most powerful moments. From his grief-stricken Kingdom Come-like backstory to just how naturally Routh portrayed both Supes and Clark Kent - it was a joy to watch him on-screen.
'Even in the darkest of times,' he began when asked about the black in his symbol, 'Hope cuts through.' Now if that isn't Superman in a nutshell, nothing is.
