Daredevil: 10 Reasons It's The Best MCU Entry Yet

8. Characters To Care About

The Marvel casting folk always do their jobs well, but the screenwriters don't keep up the slack sometimes. Tony Stark is probably the best developed character in the MCU, but that's relatively rare; Captain America's coming up there, thanks to The Winter Solider, but he's still mostly €œlol old man€ when he shows up in other movies. They have a chronic issue with bad guys, too, Loki being a notable exception to a succession of Generic Evil Would-Be Despots. Daredevil gives, across the board, strong characters worth caring about. Matt Murdock is obviously sympathetic from the off €“ he's the hero, blinded as a kid, doing good in his day and night jobs €“ but Foggy is equally well developed, Karen Page is more than the usual romantic interest, and Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple avoids similar pitfalls. Perhaps most impressive of all, however, is Wilson Fisk. Are people allowed to say his name yet? The would-be Kingpin's introduction was heavily foreshadowed, and he was introduced not through an act of extreme violence (that came later), but with his love for art and troubled courtship of dealer Vanessa. Not only is he the best villain they've had, but the only one you've been lead to care about.
