DC's Titans: 9 Reasons It's Already A Dud

4. The Tone Is All Over The Place

Tone is an important aspect of any movie or show: you need to keep a consistent mood and be careful about switching things up in order to avoid giving your audience mood whiplash, and again, it's something Titans has no handle on whatsoever.

Though the premiere is fairly humourless for the most part, there are a few goofy quips throughout the episode which don't land at all, while many unintentionally comedic moments upend the mostly serious tenor (Raven's schizoid hallucination calling her a "slut" out of nowhere, for example).

This seems to be a pretty consistent problem with DC properties at the moment, sadly, and while it's respectable that Titans isn't just trying to replicate the MCU's broad style and tone, it's also clear that the show has something of an identity crisis going on.
