DC's Titans Trailer Reaction: 2 Ups And 3 Downs
1. Brenton Thwaites' Robin
While we all have differing opinions on practically everything we saw in the Titans trailer, there is no denying that Robin was the standout aspect. Dick Grayson is the primary focus of the minute-long clip that highlights his attempts to grow as a detective while referencing the grief he still faces over his parents' deaths.
Although things seem to go way off-course (with the character inexplicably killing people), it's clear that there is a well of inner conflict just waiting to be explored.
But - storyline inconsistencies aside - Brenton Thwaites turns in one heck of a performance as the Boy Wonder. Not only does he look the part, he manages to make you feel everything that he is feeling - which really says a lot, considering the brevity of the clip. The young actor conveys all of Dick's past troubles with a single look while seemingly able to pull off the leading man role with ease - nod bad, considering the fact that he's playing a character renowned for being a sidekick.
Hopefully the writing will do Robin justice and won't venture too far of course, but one thing is certain: if Thwaites delivers in the show like he does here, then he could end up turning in the greatest live-action portrayal of the Boy Wonder we have ever seen.
