Deadwood: Ranking 15 Cast Members Worst To Best

8. E.B. Farnum

Weasel, petulant, greedy. These are all words that accurately describe Deadwood's hotelier and later mayor E.B. Farnum. E.B. is like a Machiavellian figure without any sense of skill in the art of manipulation. Arguably the most despised permanent fixture in camp, people had no choice but to put up with E.B.'s scheming and plotting for more control and respect in the camp.

At first a creature of Al Swearengen's, E.B. falsely believed he was destined for greater things and demanded more authority in the camp. Even after being appointed mayor, the locals tolerance of E.B. proved low at best.

William Sanderson brings the right amount of pathetic entitlement to the role that he never became annoying as we were often treated to other members of the cast putting him down regularly. Without E.B., Deadwood wouldn't have its resident punching bag to lighten the mood once in a while.
