Dexter: 10 Most Hated Episodes Of All Time
1. "Remember Those Monsters... ?" - Season 8, Episode 12
Dexter fans hoped for a satisfying (or simply decent) series finale.
But they didn't get it.
Would 'America's Favorite Serial Killer' be exposed and face his comeuppance after an intense manhunt?
Nope. Instead, we saw Deb tell her foster brother not to feel guilty on her deathbed, although he had every reason to.
Moving along, Dexter and Saxon had a final showdown, but it was far from what anyone asked for. How did the villain finally pay?
He was stabbed with a pen.
That was it. Despite seeing photos of Dexter dumping body bags, the police said it was self-defense, and no one batted an eye.
Although he told Hannah he needed to leave to protect those he loved, he seemed fine when turned into a lumberjack. Over the series, the idea was that Dex couldn't be happy. By the end, it was more like he couldn't be happy with other people, making him more an introvert than a stone-cold killer.
More ridiculous than his motive to fake his death was the act of doing so. Jumping the shark, Dexter sailed himself into a freakin' hurricane. The scene with Deb on the boat might have been a tear-jerker, but it was completely undone by this overdramatic moment.
The finale left fans pissed, rather than begging for an encore. Despite a multi-year tease, Dexter never met his maker, and he hypocritically washed his hands of wrongdoing. Perhaps it is simply hopes of a better tomorrow that keeps fans interested in the upcoming reboot.
