Dexter: 10 Most Hated Episodes Of All Time
2. "Monkey In A Box" - Season 8, Episode 11
Fans watched Dexter change from the man who felt nothing to one who grieved over Dr Vogel. Like most narratives, it was fitting that he had a change of heart, but mourning over a neuropsychiatrist stretched too far out from what initially made the protagonist intriguing.
Additionally, Dex lost his magic touch. While alarming nobody, he returned to clean up where Vogel died. Beforehand, Dexter was extremely cautious when covering his tracks, but now he didn't so much as wear gloves. It all could have been a waste of time, too, as there was only the presumption the doctor didn't mention his secret.
Flash forward and Dexter pursued lame-duck Saxon. Far from the ideal endmost nemesis, the surgeon was a bore until he was strapped down in Dex's chair. The intent might have been to show how our hero was normalizing, but one couldn't help but think our main character was becoming a little bit too naive, if not completely dumb.
After chasing down the maniac only for him to still be a d*ck, one would've expected Dex to hack Saxon halfway to Hell. No one would have been upset if Dex treated the situation like a New Year's Resolution and went, "Eh, I'll give justice a shot starting next time."
Dex's shortsighted decision led to Saxon shooting his sister after Deputy Clayton freed him. Clayton was murdered for his efforts, too, the nitwit. Ah, what an uncomfortable mess the final season was turning out to be.
